Customer seeks a senior level experienced WLAN (Wireless) systems engineer to perform network application designing, developing, installation/configuration, packaging, testing, implementing, and Tier 3 level troubleshooting of Aruba and Cisco brand network-related equipment of a large scale government enterprise environment.
Background / Project Description:
The Enterprise Voice over IP (EVoIP) division of the customer utilizes the Network Services technical team to provide information technology technical solutions support with systems and network engineering, project coordination, scheduling, backup/recovery, storage, technical writing/editing, and Tier 3 level support following a defined system development lifecycle (SDLC), along with ITIL, PMI, AGILE, and CMMI-based requirements, change, project, and release management processes and procedures.
The primary scope of this work shall include the efforts involved with engineering (designing, developing, installing, configuring, testing, and implementing) various WLAN/LAN task orders involving Aruba and Cisco network solutions. Additionally, the candidate will participate in capturing and analyzing technical requirements; documenting detailed system designs, implementation plans, and operations guides of network systems; participate in both project and operational meetings; providing Tier 3 level support utilizing change control processes.
The candidate will also support LAN infrastructure projects.
Qualifications, Required Experience etc.:
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Responsible for the research and development of existing and new wireless technologies used to optimize and maintain United States Attorneys corporate and nationwide network. Which include Designing, Testing, Installing, Configuring, Implementing, and troubleshooting of Wireless and LAN equipment
Working with 3rd party and internal departments in integrating wireless equipment with current WAN and security infrastructure.
Optimizing wireless performance while fulfilling security requirements for user/device authentication, encryption and intrusion detection, i.e. 802.1x RADIUS Authentication using EAP-TLS.
Responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and modification of wireless network hardware and software. Which include:
Cisco Switches (3750, 3850 and 9300 experience preferred)
Wireless Controllers (Aruba experience preferred)
Guest registration web portal
Recommending configuration changes and software upgrades
Configuration and testing of QoS for voice & video, VLANS, ACL s, GRE tunnels, VRRP, etc.
802.1x RADIUS authentication using EAP-TLS
Site Surveys: Using Air Magnet analysis software or equivalent
Provides tier 3 support in the area of wireless devices, including hand-held devices, LAN and WAN connectivity.
Responsible for documentation of installed networks, to include systems design, operations and implementations guides, Visio design drawings, etc.
Maintains the security and integrity of all wireless hardware and software.
Knowledge of Windows Server 201x OS platforms; to include DNS & DHCP functions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Ability to acquire an EOUSA Public Trust Level 6 EOD Waiver as a result of an SF85P+PS investigation.
Supplemental/Preferred Additional Qualifications/Experience:
Related Network Engineering certifications (e.g., ACMP, ACCP CCIE),
Knowledge/Familiarity with government security settings.
Utilization of Windows 201x and Linux servers
Four-year bachelor s degree.
Policy making and management for Layer 2 QoS packet markings and conformance
Understanding of DNS, DHCP, IP subnetting, addressing, and Variable Length Subnet Masks.
Understanding of SSL certificates
Adjudicated and active Public Trust Level 6 or Top Secret clearance level.
The government will provide office space and equipment.
Desktop computer, network diagnostic equipment, access to the network.
Access to lab and production systems as necessary.
Access to past and current design and implementation documentation.
Deliverables and Acceptance:
In addition to completing technical work, the engineer shall deliver project documentation such as detailed designs, test plans/test cases, implementation plans, and operations guides over the span of the period of performance.
The engineer shall deliver weekly contract status reporting to both customer s management staff and Government Security staff.
Delivery of a final transition report to the customer s manager.
Acceptance of all the above will be via email approval from the customer s manager.
