Senior Systems Administrator

Blackstone Technology Group, an award winning technology consulting and staffing firm, is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator professional to join our team and work for our client in Colorado Springs, CO.

Senior System Center Configuration Manager Administrator who will use their knowledge, experience, and documented procedures to build and implement SCCM Packages, configure and deploy applications/task sequences, monitor and maintain the health of clients, and implement Enterprise Patching for Desktops and Servers via SCCM.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and deploy images for enterprise workstations and servers utilizing technologies such as Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)/Windows Deployment Services (WDS)/ Windows Pre-installation Environment (WinPE) / and Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE).
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution, to include but not limited to, issues with site-to-site communication, package distribution, SCCM advanced client and operating system deployment (OSD).
  • Create complex and dynamic collections, advertisements, queries, reports, other technical documents as required and manage local and remote site boundaries, site systems, site roles, inter-site dependencies and communication.
  • Monitor all SCCM primary sites and all SCCM clients in order to maintain high service availability.
  • Create and monitor reports for inventory and security compliance.
  • Generate query-based collections and SCCM reports using SQL and WQL.
  • Develop implementation strategies and deployment schedules and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Validate deployment plans for compliance with existing performance limitations of the enterprise server's software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Group Policy Object (GPO), AD replication, security, permissions, etc
  • Support the training and skills enhancement of all IT department team members when/where required.
  • Provide support and administration of a hybrid Office365 Exchange environment to include replication of the local directory to the cloud assets.
  • Support network backup, recovery, and archiving activities (BURA).
  • Document all resolution activities and customer contact (calls, E-Mails, web forms, chat sessions, or voicemails) into the correct ITSM tool.
  • Conduct desk-side support when required to resolve customer Incident or Request tickets.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve Tier-III hardware and software tickets using knowledge, experience, and standard operating procedures.
  • Per process, document and escalate vendor tickets.
  • Develop and promote standard operating procedures and the population and use of the Knowledge Management System (KMS).
  • Ensure proper IT system and data security is practiced at all times.
  • Support management reporting, information flow, and process planning.

Show initiative and act independently to resolve tickets, manage multiple priorities and follow through on projects/tasks to completion.

Effectively communicate by phone or in person and handle difficult situations and customers.

Track and manage tickets to ensure timely and agreed resolutions and solutions.

  • Concisely and effectively, communicate progress, status and issues to the customer and management.
  • Ensure actions support documented processes and procedures to meet or exceed operational Service Level Agreements (SLA) with the business partners.
  • When required, provided documentation and training on IT services.



Knowledge of:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7/Windows 10, Microsoft Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC), Remote Desktop, Powershell, Internet Explorer/Google Chrome/Mozilla, workstation and peripheral hardware troubleshooting, imaging best practices, anti-virus tool operations, basic SASS connectivity, software licensing, client VPN capabilities, and third party applications such as Adobe.

  • Knowledgeable of process and technology such as; ITSM Tools (FootPrints, Cherwell, or Remedy), Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), provision user shares, BURA activities and tasks, network storage, basic TCP/IP and DNS, Microsoft Office 2010-2016, Microsoft Windows 7/10, SharePoint, user shares, print servers operations, and Active Directory security and permissioning.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Significant related experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Requires current, valid driver s license with a clean driving record.


Five or more years working in an IT service organization, working within

Software Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Branch 1710 or later

Windows 7/Windows 10, Server 2008, 2012, 2016

Virtualized environments (ESXi/VMware, vSphere or HyperV)

Microsoft Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC)

Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP functionality

Required Certifications:

Possess, or obtain within six months of hire: CompTIA Security+

Preferred Qualifications

  • Administering and Deploying System Center 2012 Configuration Manager
  • Microsoft MCSE (current)
  • Microsoft MCSA (Server 2012, Server 2016, Windows 10, SQL Server 2016)
