The Applications Technology Development Engineer (ATDE) strives to become world leader in applications in their market segment, becoming the go-to expert in the world for the application of Scanning Electron, Microscope (SEM) base electric testing and probing needs such as, but not limited to: AC/DC I-V and C-V curves of transistors, Passive and Active Voltage Contrast PAVC, electron beam characterization (EBAC, EBIC & EBIRCH etc) to solve leading and important problems in semiconductor manufacturing process.
The Goal is to identify and solve customer problems and needs, through advanced usage of our instruments on appropriate customer samples, arranging and managing collaborations with key customers and segment leaders and harvesting the literature for examples of pioneering applications. The ATDE is directly working with our demo labs on customer advanced samples that come through during demonstrations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Skilled and in depth technical knowledge of customer workflows where we have an opportunity to provide solutions for SEM based imaging and probing technologies
  • Provide detailed descriptions of customer’ s “ Job-to-be-done” and how solutions can impact success in the context of the customer’ s workflow
  • Develop application concept details that solve specific customer problems
  • Construct proto type workflows and feasibility use case examples to support new solution concepts
  • Validate new solution concepts through customer collaborations. Provide “ hands on” applications support for collaborations
  • Support detailed material RD development by contributing detailed requirements from customer perspective
  • Create application content to support product positioning for sales and marketing collateral
  • Provide expert level sales and strategic marketing customer support
  • Train demo lab personnel how to showcase sub-segment solutions. Facilitate best demo practices sharing between the world-wide demo labs
  • Thought leadership priorities (publications, conference contributions, and webinars). 

  • Contribute detailed technical knowledge of customer' s ' job to be done' workflows to market analysis activities
  • Detailed descriptions of solution workflows together with use case examples
  • Solution validation reports from customer collaborations
  • Technical content for Marketing Requirement Documents (MRDs) for new tool platform and technology development
  • Applications content for sales training' s, level 1 – 3 sales presentations and sales technology collateral
  • Best demo practices sharing between the world-wide demo labs, establish demo approaches that will resonate best with Semiconductor customers
  • Thought leadership priorities (publications, conference contributions, and webinars). 

Experience and Education Requirements
  • MS or PhD Degree in physics, materials, electric engineering and semiconductors, integrated circuits related technology areas strongly preferred
  • 5+ years relevant experience working in electrically probing of integrated circuits, fault isolation and failure analysis as an engineer for semiconductors manufacturer or related technology fields
  • Experience with application of light microscopy, X-ray, e-beam and ion beam imaging and associated analytical tools for solving industry problems strongly preferred
  • High level thinker that is able to “ see the forest through the trees”. This is especially important when faced with extracting valuable information from a mountain of raw data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable communicating with the scientific/technical community and high level economic buyers.
  • Highly organized, meticulous and with a self-motivated “ can do” attitude.
  • Strong multi-tasking skills, independent thinker, solutions-oriented personality.
