Immediate opening for an Infrastructure Engineer. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Engineers solutions for on-premises hardware and network
    • Scalability
    • Failover/Recovery
    • Disaster Recovery Planning
    • Monitoring
    • Security
    • Performance
    • Designs and plans network systems
  • Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
  • Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
  • Provides technical analysis in data network planning, engineering, and design
  • Provides analysis for implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to network problems
  • Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, hubs, bridges and gateways, etc.
  • Coordinates third party maintenance for network equipment and troubleshoots problems with department users and department network administrators
  • May develop uniform operation procedures
  • Conducts testing of network systems
  • Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Cloud experience (e.g., AWS Workspaces, VPC setup)
  • Storage experience (Dell/EMC)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years of experience engineering hardware and network designs for large-scale enterprise applications
  • 5 years experience with virtualization platforms
  • 5 years experience coordinating activities of technology product and service vendors and leading technical infrastructure design activities

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
