Blackstone Technology Group, an award winning technology consulting and staffing firm, is seeking an experienced senior Program Manager and business analysis leader  to work at our client site in Rensselaer, NY Data Center.

You’ ll lead our talented Requirements/Business Analysis team. Our project is a large scale Java web services environment. It is a three-tiered application (web, application, and database server) with multiple levels of security between each tier. Our software is written with Java, utilizing Spring 5 Framework, a very heavy dose of JavaScript and UI moving towards Angular.  Redesigning code to smaller bases with Microservices and REST APIs.  Other technologies are in play for rules management, DROOLS, and BPM workflow, Activiti

This position provides leadership of the IT Requirements/Business Analysis team to develop technology solutions that support business requirements, improve processes, as well as align resources to support our client. The primary focus includes: developing the competency and growth of the team by coaching and educating on business analysis skills, contributing to continuous improvements, resource performance management and demand management to ensure that the right resources are available to support projects.

The Senior Manager supervises and coordinates the daily activities of staff, which includes assessing and monitoring staff productivity through standards and metrics to optimize performance and increase efficiency. They also monitor the activities of the business analysis team to ensure all projects’ progress is on schedule and within budget

 

Here’ s what You’ ll Do:
  • Provides day-to-day supervision of the Business Analysis team and works independent of supervision from senior management.
  • Manages the Business Analysis process across multiple projects
  • Collaborates with business users, technical, and functional team members to understand and define business requirements
  • Manages business requirements, ensures that they are met, and provides guidance to the team.
  • Responsible for overall business requirements sign-off.
  • Responsible for ensuring that bi-directional traceability matrices of requirements are provided.
  • Provides leadership and direction across the enterprise business by understanding the business process, end-user requirements, and requirements management life cycle.
  • Applies communication skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of industry best practices to guide the Business Analysis team on issues related to business requirements.
  • Ensures the use of business analysis best practices and holds team accountable for adhering to those practices.
  • Sets attainable goals for team members to meet client and project commitments.
  • Recommends new processes where needed to improve quality, cost, or on-time delivery
  • Monitors and reports on the performance of the team. Manages planned change initiatives and operations.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements approved process improvements.
  • Tracks actual performance against planned business performance, analyze variances, and problem solves to ensure all customer needs are met while maintaining control of the project.
  • Serves as focal point of communication from the team
  • Builds high performance teams through effectively training, mentoring, delegating, and providing feedback to appropriate members of the team.
  • Establishes and builds strong working relations and partnerships with internal team and client.
  • Partners with client and analyzes issues and problems from the client perspective

Here’ s what You’ ll Bring to the Table:

Education
  • Bachelor’ s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration or related field

Technical Experience
  • Ten (10)+ years of related experience in a professional role
  • Six (6)+ years working with business requirements and/or process documentation
  • Five (5)+ years management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of the Software Design Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Familiarity with ITIL standards and best-practices
  • Ability to clearly communicate design rationale and build consensus
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into a clearly understandable written form
  • Prior experience working as a Business Systems Analyst or Requirements Manager r
  • Prior work experience in a large IT or software development organization
  • Project management experience.
  • Understanding of the requirements management life cycle
  • General understanding of role-relevant issues and trends
  • Ability to manage people, projects, and processes
  • Technical understanding with ability to communicate and translate technical impacts, technical solutions, root cause, and corrective actions into business concepts (non-technical terms)
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and enforce deadlines,

  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, facilitation) with strong presentation and facilitation skills.
