Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Red Hat Linux Engineer with a minimum of 7 years of experience in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration, strong troubleshooting skills, and at least 3 years of experience writing Ansible playbooks. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our RHEL-based environments, with specialized expertise in troubleshooting, and supporting Logical Volume Manager (LVM).


Key Responsibilities:

System Administration and Automation:

  • Lead the design, deployment, and maintenance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems and services critical to Delta Dental Insurance's IT infrastructure.
  • Manage and administer a diverse range of RHEL servers, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security in accordance with industry best practices and standards.
  • Develop and implement robust automation scripts and tools using Bash, Python, or other scripting languages to streamline system provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.
  • Write, test, and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate repetitive tasks, enforce configuration consistency, and simplify system management.

Troubleshooting:

  • Utilize strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex issues affecting RHEL systems, covering a broad range of areas such as performance, network connectivity, and application errors.
  • Investigate and resolve issues related to system stability, resource utilization, and service availability, ensuring minimal impact on operations.

Logical Volume Manager (LVM) Support:

  • Provide expert-level support for Logical Volume Manager (LVM) configurations, including volume creation, resizing, and snapshot management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to LVM, such as disk space allocation, volume corruption, and performance optimization.

Security and Compliance:

  • Design, implement, and enforce comprehensive security measures to safeguard RHEL systems from potential threats, including unauthorized access, malware, and data breaches.
  • Conduct regular system updates, patch management activities, and vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

Collaboration and Documentation:

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement solutions that seamlessly integrate RHEL systems with other technologies and platforms, such as cloud services and virtualization technologies.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines, to facilitate knowledge transfer and ensure operational continuity.

Must Have:

  • Experience maintaining RedHat Enterprise LINUX (RHEL) in a Production Enterprise environment.
  • Senior LINUX Engineer (Minimum 7+ Exp with RedHat LINUX)
  • Experienced LINUX OS Troubleshooting Skills.
  • Knowledgeable in Ansible (Minimum 3+ Exp writing and administering Ansible Playbooks)
  • Strong Working Knowledge of LINUX Logic Volume Manger (LVM)
  • Working knowledge of basic VMWare supporting LINUX VMs.
  • Experience in automation techniques and scripting. (Ansible, TerraForm, Bash).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and execute technical project plans.
  • Experience with orchestration tools.
  • Experience with enterprise managing monitoring.
  • Experience working in a on physical server and virtual hosted environments.
  • Good understanding of ITIL and ITSM Management with Infrastructure and Operations teams.
  • Knowledge of LINUX Kernel Tuning
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals Certification Needed
  • Experience managing Linux-based workloads in Azure Cloud
  • Excellent interpersonal / written and verbal communication skills.

Non-Required Skills:

  • Working Knowledge of Oracle LINUX.
  • Relevant certifications such as RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer), RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator), or similar credentials are highly desirable and will be considered a plus.
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900)
